Big Changes to the CRE User's Guide
Posted by BoatZincs.com on 2026 Jan 8th

Our Corrosion Reference Electrode is a truly indispensable tool for the professional and DIYer alike. Connected to any digital multimeter, the CRE provides reliable and repeatable readings that serve to demystify the invisible electrochemical processes playing out constantly on a vessel's underwater metals. It's silver-silver/chloride core is the industry standard for this type of diagnostic equipment, which often costs five times or more what we're able to offer the CRE for.
The User's Guide, already counted on by thousands (upon thousands) of boaters, has been substantially updated. The fundamental testing techniques remain, front and center, aided by five times as many pages' worth of helpful photos, contextual examples, and situational use cases. The User's Guide has also been rebuilt with a spiral, lay-flat binding and is now printed on water-resistant paper.
Together, the CRE and its User's Guide empower the boater to answer the most pressing questions about corrosion control:
- "Do I have enough zinc on my boat?"
- "Is my bonding system working okay?"
- "Is my galvanic isolator working?"
- "Do I have stray electrical currents either in my boat or at my dock?"
- "Are my shaft zincs attached?"
- "Are boats next to me eating my zincs?"
- "Is all of my electrical equipment installed correctly?"
- "Is my dock and/or marina operating at the correct corrosion potential?"
