Welcome to the new (and very much improved) BoatZincs.com. 

It took us twenty years of doing business to get to the point where we felt we had outgrown our old website. From humble beginnings fielding orders out of a suburban basement (ask us sometime about getting truckloads of zincs delivered to the driveway, breaking them down and bringing them inside one at a time, box by box or piece by piece), we’ve certainly grown. The basement quickly filled up, prompting us to rent a building a couple of towns over. We outgrew that, too, moving out after a few years, buying our own building at 569 Main Street in Hudson, MA. Which still isn’t big enough, hence the massive construction site here as we build a substantial addition.

Two decades. About 375,000 orders. The whole time, our hand-coded and lovingly-crafted website was there. We were an early presence, not just in the marine industry but in eCommerce as well. As the market and the internet changed, we bolted on new features as necessary. A navigation system which we couldn’t be prouder of, helping customers find their way to exactly the part they’re looking for. A robust search engine to match. We took product photos, kept track of alternate part numbers, and we created cross reference tables. We wanted to create a resource for the entire boating community. Over the years, we worked with our customers, taking feedback and improving things as much as we could. Point is: the website has always grown along with the rest of the company.

And that’s maybe never been truer than it is today.

The most obvious change: the website looks quite a bit different now. And we’re very happy with our new design, but this has very much been a “form follows function” sort of project. The navigation system has been retained; we’re just organizing it by alloy. Nowadays, most folks know which alloy they’re looking for (we’re always a phone call or an email away for anyone who doesn’t). So it’s much cleaner and faster to organize our products this way. Alloy, category, product. Finding the anode you need with as few clicks as possible.

We re-photographed everything in the warehouse, all 1500 products. This gives you highly detailed reference points for the anode you’re looking at (these photos are about twelve times the size as our old images, too – feel free to zoom in!). And that search feature has been overhauled, returning results more accurately and faster than ever before. For customers who create an account, a whole suite of new tools is now available. Order history is easier to locate and manage. Invoices are available on demand to view, print, or download. And for customers who don’t create an account, we’ll still maintain your order history here, as we always have.
