With a Corrosion Reference Electrode, what test(s) can I perform on my boat?
A) Measure the vessel’s Hull Potential.
B) Verify the vessel’s Bonding System.
C) Check the vessel’s Galvanic Isolation.
D) Pinpoint sources of Electrical Leakage.
E) All of the above.
The correct answer is E.
With the assistance of our User’s Guide, the Corrosion Reference Electrode will enable you to perform a comprehensive corrosion survey of your vessel.
You will:
aKnow if your vessels’ hull potential is within, above, or below acceptable levels;
a Probe each underwater metal from within your boat (including propeller shafts, rudder posts, thru-hull fittings, seacocks and struts) to confirm proper attachment to the vessel’s bonding system;
aDetermine if your vessel is galvanically coupling to other boats or underwater metals around it when at dock;
aDetect and pinpoint the source of electrical leakage from devices such as engine alternators, battery chargers, inverters, bilge pumps, water pumps, electric toilets, windlass motors, house lights, autopilots, and marine electronics.
Marine corrosion is a science, not a guessing game. With the right tools you will definitively know if your boat is at risk.
